“A Hidden Gem with Easy Access to Everything That’s Great About Oakland”

Ardley Ave is one of the best little pockets of Oakland. On this tree-lined and neighborly street, we started our family and made irreplaceable memories for three wonderful years.

When we came across 3935 Ardley in 2018, we immediately fell in love with its craftsman charm, quiet speed-bumped street, and walkability to the restaurants and shops on Park Blvd. Little did we know we’d end up spending so much time in and around this home throughout the pandemic, but how thankful we are for it!

Our daughter was born in December of 2019, and we quickly learned that the sidewalks of Glenview are perfect for long stroller walks and chats with other families in the neighborhood.

As she got older, we made the 10 minute walk to Dimond Park almost daily. Dimond is a little oasis of nature just .5 miles away, with multiple play structures, community picnic tables, a community center with a pool and tennis courts, and the beautiful Sausal Creek hiking trails.

As an avid runner, I discovered the trails that start in Dimond park can be linked to the near endless and massive trail system of Joaquin Miller Park. My favorite is a 7 mile loop starting in Dimond, crossing into JMP, and following the Sunset Trail, with panoramic views of the Bay.

My wife would often head to Lakeshore Ave (1.5 miles away) to grab coffee and bagels with a friend and explore the little shops. When our daughter tagged along, they would head to Lake Merritt and walk along the water, taking in the sights and sounds of Oakland’s vibrant community.

The whole family made the most of the quick walk to Park Blvd; my wife and I for frequent date nights at Marzano Italian or Park Sushi; family dinners at Paulista Brazilian Kitchen; and weekly Saturday breakfast dates for me and my daughter at the Diggery Inn, where the waitresses know us by name and put in our order before we even sit down. We will miss them!

These local routines made life here special, yet Ardley is also just 10 minutes from downtown Oakland (where I biked to work!), 16 minutes from Berkeley, and 20 minutes from San Francisco. It allowed us to get the quiet neighborhood feel we wanted for our family, without missing out on the energy of the city.

We are sad to move on from Ardley but with my mother-in-law moving in and an expanding family in our future, we hope to find a little more space. We know the new owners will love our home, neighborhood, and this community as much as we did.


Situated in the Oakland foothills, Glenview is a small residential neighborhood full of single-family bungalows and traditionally styled dwellings dating back to the 1920s and ‘30s.

Most of the businesses in Glenview are mom-and-pop shops and include a market, locksmith, and shipping center. Highly rated restaurants such as Bellanico, Marzano and Blackberry Bistro add some gourmet flair to the Park Boulevard business district. The Glenview Neighborhood Association and Glenfriends have adopted Park Boulevard, sponsoring the Park Boulevard Median Cleanup and Planting Day on the boulevard median.

Twelve-acre Dimond Park runs along Glenview's eastern side, with oak and redwood trees populating the green space. Amenities include picnic areas, playgrounds, and a swimming pool. Additionally the Redwood Regional Park System and Montclair Village are just a few minutes away. Sausal Creek and the 3-par Montclair Golf Course and driving range nestle into this vibrant, eclectic community.

Between HWYS 13 and 580, the Glenview provides a quick commute to downtown Oakland or San Francisco.
